In the midst of the 2017 presidential election, some of the biggest names in web design are coming to Canada to talk about their work.
In an exclusive interview with The Globe and Mail, design superstar and web designer and founder of design firm Fetch Design, Marcin Zielinski, shares the secrets of creating a web site that stands out from the rest of the world.
Marcin, thank you so much for joining us.
Marc: This interview is really awesome, thank-you so much.
I really appreciate the support you are getting.
The Globe is one of Canada’s biggest newspapers, so I hope it gets you out there.
I think this interview really helped me make a stronger, more informed decision about how I design my site and the way I write about it.
How would you describe your site, Fetch?
Fetch is a website that lets you easily build your own website.
It’s like a designer’s toolkit.
I use a lot of free web design resources and they’re available for free to anyone who wants to learn how to make their own website, but I think it’s really important that you understand how you can actually use the toolkit you’ve got.
Marc, the word design is a big part of your site.
What makes your site so distinctive?
F: That’s one of the first things you have to know.
I try to build a website from scratch, so it’s very clear how I think about things.
I just think of the most important things in my mind before I even start writing.
I have a lot to say about every aspect of it, so my words and my intentions are the ones that are really important to me.
So, it’s pretty easy to see how I work, because I try not to think about what I’m doing before I’m done.
What’s your biggest weakness?
I think that’s pretty much how most people make a website.
They write something and it’s so simple, and then they don’t do anything.
And it’s hard to make your website stand out from any other website out there, and I think if you write a blog or an online store and you’re a professional, then you can do everything with ease.
But I don’t want to be that person, because the quality is very important.
Marcina: When you were starting out, you were always making design-focused websites.
Did you ever think that the more you worked on designing and building sites, the more likely you would be to make them successful?
F : I think the most exciting thing about making websites is that you’re not just making a website for your own benefit.
You’re creating a website, for everyone.
And when you create a website and have something you want to share, you have a website to share it with.
That’s how you get something out there and become a great web designer.
Marc and I worked together at Fetch for six years and it was great.
I thought it was a great place to work because the team was incredibly talented.
Marc’s website is pretty impressive.
How did you learn to design websites?
F. I first worked on a design course in college, and after that, I was working on an interview site.
Marc was working at a design studio and I had the chance to work at FETC and Fetch in one day, and it turned out to be very, very interesting.
I also learned a lot about how to code.
I learned how to use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and all that stuff and that was pretty cool.
Marc I think I could have done a lot more, but the experience I had at Fett and FET, I just really enjoyed it.
Marc : Fetch has a great reputation as a design company.
How do you see that?
What do you think makes them stand out in the market?
F.: It’s not really that much of a secret, but what I really like about Fetch and how they work is that they’re not only good designers, they’re really good developers.
I was impressed that Marc, who was really smart, got his hands dirty on a site.
He put his skills to use.
I mean, this is an interview.
You are a professional designer.
So he went out and created a design and built a website where he could see that he could build a site for himself.
Marc also did a fantastic job of teaching me how to work with the Adobe Illustrators and Photoshop.
It was a very helpful experience for me because I was able to see that I could build something.
Marc you mentioned that you had to learn to code a lot.
What was that like?
The coding was actually really easy because I could use the same programming language that I use for everything else.
Marc You said that you like to talk a lot, but did you ever do any coding before?
I started coding when
