I used to design infographics and videos for a living.
In 2014, I got the chance to take a new class at the University of Alabama at Birmingham called Infographics Design.
After three years of classes, I was ready to jump in with my first project.
I got a job as a web designer at a local advertising agency, but I wanted to make my own infographics to help clients with advertising campaigns.
My client wanted to know what types of people were interested in buying their products and what kind of images would work best to make that happen.
The next step was finding the right infographic.
As the class began, the instructor showed me a list of topics that were already on the instructor’s mind: what kinds of people look for different types of products, what kinds look for particular types of images, what types prefer different fonts, etc. It was a lot of work, and I felt like I needed to learn how to do this.
I wanted it to be easy to do, and it wasn’t, so I went straight to work.
When I got my first design job, I thought I’d never get paid for anything I did.
That’s because my employer had given me a job on the back of a piece of software that I’d built to do infographics, but it didn’t pay.
At that point, I had no other options.
So, I decided to take the next step: I started designing infographics myself.

I’m an avid web designer, so my work is constantly evolving and evolving, and my new project is no exception.
